Three steps. A few minutes. That's it.
Not noticing is the most common experience there is. That's exactly why a short check is worth doing.
Take the check
Put on any headphones. Listen to everyday sounds across low, mid, and high frequencies, and tap whether you heard each one. Most people finish in about 3–4 minutes.

Why people trust HearingCheck.ca
We built this the way we'd want it built for our own parents.
Built on how hearing is actually screened
Our check screens the speech frequencies that matter most in everyday conversation — the same range a hearing professional starts with.
It's a screening, not a diagnosis. Only a registered audiologist can diagnose hearing loss. We'll tell you honestly when it's time to see one.
Your hearing data stays in Canada
Your results are stored on Canadian servers and handled under Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA.
We never sell your information. We never share it with hearing-aid companies. You can ask us to delete everything at any time — one click, no questions.
Zero sales pressure. We mean it.
We don't sell hearing aids. We're not owned by a hearing-aid manufacturer.
No one will phone you. No one will show up at your door. If you want help finding a professional, we'll help. If you don't, we'll leave you alone.
Works on what you already own
Any phone, tablet, or computer. Any headphones or earbuds — the ones that came with your phone are fine.
Nothing to download. No app, no account, no password to remember.
Optional: two quick questions
This helps us tailor what we say after your check. Or skip straight to the check.

Checking for someone you love?
Raising it with a parent or partner is the hard part. The check gives you an easy way in — no diagnosis, no confrontation, just a few minutes and a clear answer.
A simple way to bring it up
- Pick a calm moment — not in the middle of an argument about the TV volume.
- Frame it as curiosity, not accusation: you’re checking yours too, or you saw a free tool online.
- Sit with them for the short sound check, then look at the results together.
“I tried this free hearing check — it only takes a few minutes. Want to do it together? No one’s selling anything.”
Straight answers to the questions people actually ask
Is an online hearing checkup actually accurate?
It's a reliable screening — not a diagnosis. Our check is designed to tell you one thing well: whether your hearing is likely in the typical range, or whether it's worth getting checked properly.
It won't replace a full assessment in a sound-treated room, and we'd never claim otherwise. Only a registered audiologist can diagnose hearing loss. What our check does is answer the question most people are actually stuck on: "Is this worth doing something about?"
A quiet room and decent headphones will give you the most useful result.
Do I need special equipment or headphones?
No. Any headphones or earbuds will do — the ones that came with your phone are perfectly fine. Over-ear, in-ear, wired or wireless, it all works.
Two things help: find a quiet spot, and set your volume to about half before you start. We'll walk you through a quick sound check first, so you'll know everything's working before the real check begins.
Using your device's speakers instead of headphones will give a less reliable result — we'll let you know if we detect that.
What happens to my data and privacy?
Your results are yours. They're stored on servers in Canada and handled under PIPEDA, Canada's federal privacy law.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with hearing-aid manufacturers or retailers. Ever.
You don't need an account to take the check. If you'd like your results emailed to you, that's your choice — and you can ask us to delete everything at any time, with one click and no questions asked.
Is there any cost or obligation attached?
The check is completely free, and there's no obligation of any kind. No credit card, no trial, no subscription.
We don't sell hearing aids — so there's no sales call coming, because there's nothing for us to sell you.
If your results suggest it's worth seeing a professional, we'll explain what that involves and help you find a registered audiologist. Then it's entirely your call. If you'd rather do nothing, that's a perfectly reasonable choice too.
A few minutes now. Or another year of wondering.
Free. Private. About 3–4 minutes. And nobody will call you.
